Te Wā Ring Workshop

$150.00

What the class involves:
Over 3 hours in a group of 3-6 people, Lily will teach how to work with jeweller's wax in the "lost wax casting" technique to make a ring. You will learn how to cut, file, melt and sculpt the wax into your own design. Lily is especially good at teaching nature-inspires textures and shapes.

After class:
The rings will be sent away to be professionally cast into sterling silver, then Lily will do all the finishing steps in metal - sanding polishing, stone setting etc.
Rings will be returned 3 weeks after class.

****Important****
Pricing:
The class is paid in two lots. An enrolment cost, and a cost of silver and gemstones used.

Payment 1. The $150 enrolment covers cost to use the space, the wax, tuition, and Lily's work finishing the metal pieces.

Payment 2. The amount of silver and gemstones used in the final piece will vary for each student's design. Therefore this cost will be between $60-$150 and is to be paid after the rings are complete and returned to you.
Small dainty rings with few gemstones of course use a small amount of silver so will be around the $60 mark, whereas a big bold signet ring encrusted in stones will be more around $150. Lily will guide about the expected cost of your design as you are making so the price won't be a surprise at the end.

Location:
Te Wā, 74 Hawdon street, Sydenham, Ōtautahi Christchurch

Extra info:
On the day please wear clothes you don't mind getting a little grubby, just incase. Hair tied back is best, and if its a concern, its good to not have a fresh manicure because jewellery-making can ruin your new set.

Bring some design inspiration! Either from Lily's Instagram, Pintrest or anywhere else. Some idea of what you want to make is good.

Te Wā is a space for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ to connect, make art, and feel joy. Please respect this space, and come fill it with good crafty energy.

Lily (she/they) is a pakeha artist from here in Ōtautahi for now but soon bound for Naarm (Melbourne).
